iMemories Allowed Me to Relive Old Memories

Being old, gray, and all alone is not really a blast. My daughters are all grown up now and they are living with their husbands not far away from where I am. Even so, I get struck by loneliness at certain times. My wife passed away three years back. It was the saddest moment of my life.

When I am lonely, what I do is I take all my old video tapes and play them over and over until my sadness disappears. It was very effective, because each video reminds of my youth, when my children were still kids, and when my wife was as strong and vibrant like I knew her. More than the captured videos, the memories I had while making the home movies also plays in my mind. All of these gave me the comfort knowing that I did live a happy life.

I only succumbed to more sorrow when my good old video player broke down on me. I tried to bring it for repairs only to be disappointed. They said that the old VHS player that I own is no longer manufactured and none of its type is. They don’t have parts available for it so their advice was for me to upgrade into the newer DVD player. What use is a DVD player when all I have are VHS tapes to play?

One morning when my daughter visited me and found me lonely, she tried to console me by saying she’ll buy me a new VHS player. She also took all the tapes with her. When she came back after several days, she gave me a DVD player instead. She also handed me several discs. When I came to play it, I was delighted to see that it was the same old home movies that I keep watching over and over!
